The District of Lantzville is committed to making voting as accessible as reasonably possible.
Accessible voting place: The voting place at Costin Hall, 7232 Lantzville Road, is wheelchair accessible.
Curbside voting: If you can travel to the voting place but are unable to enter the voting place because of a physical disability or impaired mobility, you may request curbside voting.
To request curbside voting:
Election officials will bring a ballot to you, wait while you mark the ballot, and return the ballot to the voting place to be placed in the vote counting unit.
Assistance marking your ballot: You can ask an election official, friend, or relative to help you if you are unable to mark your own ballot. The person assisting you must first make a solemn declaration that they will preserve the secrecy of the ballot, mark the ballot as you instruct, and not attempt to influence how you vote.
Translation assistance: You may bring someone to assist you if you need a translator. The translator must make a solemn declaration that they are able to translate and will do so to the best of their ability.
Electors who may require assistance because of a disability, physical challenge, mobility barrier, or other accessibility need are invited to contact the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer as soon as possible so the District can help facilitate their voting experience.
Note: Candidates, candidates' representatives, and financial agents must not assist electors.
After signing the voting book and declaring that you are eligible to vote and have not already voted in this election, you will receive your ballot. Please proceed to a voting booth to mark your ballot.
The names of the candidates for Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee, as applicable, will be listed alphabetically by last name.
The District of Lantzville uses an automated vote counting system. Votes marked on the ballot are read by an optical scanning device in the vote counting unit.
Please follow the instructions on the ballot and completely fill in the oval next to the candidate or candidates of your choice using the marking pen provided. An X is also accepted if it clearly indicates your choice. Do not place any marks near the black timing marks on the sides of the ballot, as the timing marks are needed for the vote tabulator to read the ballot.
You may vote for fewer candidates than the number of seats available. This is called undervoting, and your ballot will still be counted.
If you make a mistake or spoil your ballot, ask an election official for a new ballot.
After marking your ballot, place it in the secrecy folder or hold it so the ballot is not visible. Proceed to the vote counting unit and place your ballot face down as instructed. Please wait to confirm that your ballot has been accepted.
If the vote counting unit does not accept your ballot, an election official will assist you. You may be given the opportunity to return the spoiled ballot and receive a new ballot.
Please follow these rules at all voting opportunities:
Children and future voters are welcome at the voting place when accompanied and closely supervised by an adult.
