In compliance with the Accessible British Columbia Act (ABCA), the District of Lantzville is forming an Accessibility Advisory Committee to support the development of a municipal Accessibility Plan. The purpose of the Accessibility Plan is to outline strategies to identify, remove, and prevent barriers faced by people with disabilities that interact with the District of Lantzville. Barriers can be attitudinal, physical, information-based, systemic, technological, sensory, etc. The Accessibility Advisory Committee will consist of up to seven (7) voting members appointed by Council based on their experience and credentials, and to the extent possible, include representation as follows:

• At least half of the members to be persons with disabilities, or individuals who support, or are from organizations that support, persons with disabilities;
• At least one Indigenous person;
• Members that reflect the diversity of persons in British Columbia; and
• At least one member of Council, to be appointed as Chair.
