In Fall 2009, the District of Lantzville applied for a federal cost sharing program called the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP). JEPP supports initiatives such emergency plans, training, and certain equipment. The District of Lantzville has established an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the District Office, in the Council Chambers. In the event of an emergency or disaster, the EOC is activated and staff trained in Emergency Management report in and work together, along with various stakeholders to respond.

The District purchased a portable Information Management System, which displays information for the EOC functions: Operations, Logistics, Planning, Finance/Administration, and Management. Easy and central access to information is critical in any response, and the District of Lantzville gratefully acknowledges the 50% JEPP federal funding contribution towards this project.
