Community Event - Workshop: Biodiversity in Your Backyard
This event starts on Jun 20, 2023 and runs through Jun 20, 2023

WORKSHOP: “Biodiversity in your Backyard” Tuesday, June 20, 2023, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, Lantzville Legion, 2nd Floor Hall Presented by Lantzville resident and biodiversity expert Scott Gilmore. Come and hear about the diverse species living in Lantzville. How many species are there? Are any of them endangered? What can you do to learn about and encourage biodiversity in your own backyard?

Scott Gilmore is a local biologist with a passion for biodiversity and has studied everything from moss to fungi, polychaetes to fish, and beetles to molluscs. Scott runs the local Naturalist project Lantzville Biodiversity and often attends regional bio events as "the beetle guy". Scott guides events at schools and naturalist groups on insect diversity. Click beetles are his passion but he is always fascinated by the obscure (such as bark lice) and under-championed (like hoverflies). You are most likely to find Scott with an insect net in hand somewhere between the beach and Copley Ridge.

All Lantzville residents including youth, and young adults are welcome to attend. Scott will begin with a one-hour slide presentation then move to questions, answers and discussion. Space is limited to 100. No registration or fee to attend.
